I am attempting to evaluate Sitefinity and not having much luck. I have the Standard Trial v. 3.7, VS 2008, SQL Server Express running on Windows 7.

I have finally managed to get Sitefinity loaded and running and I have verified that the Handleer Mapping includes "template" points to the correct URL for the executable.

I created a master page template in Visual Studio, reloaded Sitefinity (the logout link did nothing so I just closed the web page and started over) and the new template showed up. In the VS master page, there was a content holder in the Head section but nothing in Sitefinity except a placeholder in the Content section which I assume came from the body section fo the template.

Drragging and dropping controls into that section does nothing. Nor does selecting a control, selecting the Content section in the dropdown list and then clicking Add.

Are some controls not allowed in master templates? Should I have uploaded a master page even though it showed up in Sitefinity already?

Thank you very much for any insights.

    Hi Penn White,

It is not possible to have ContentPlaceHolder in the head tag of the master page. Sitefinity will not allow you to drag/drop controls to this section. You can add the controls in runtime or declaratively. Generally the are not restrictions regarding the type of the controls that you can drop to a ContentPlaceHolder.

    Kind regards,
