I'm working on some modifications for a Sitefinity 3.7.2096.2:2 project. One of the requests is that users of the site be able to change their email address/username (they are the same in this instance).

I've found that there is no way to change the username for a registered user in Sitefinity 3.X. I did however find that there is a simple table in the database, [telerik_Users] which has the fields UserName, LoweredUserName, Email, and LoweredEmail. I seem to be able to change these values with a sql query, which effectively changes the username and email of the user.

What I'm wondering is, will doing this have any negative effects that I'm not noticing? Everything looks good so far, but I'm wondering if doing this would cause problems I haven't found yet.

    Hello Raymond,

The only difference if you change the password directly from the database would be that it will be hardcoded there and will not be encrypted or hashed. Other that that - this will not cause any problems.
