How do I change the date format in the news / blogs so that it displays as ' JAN 17 2011'?

I have tried inputting MMM dd yyyy into the advanced appearance field 'Dates format' but it displays the date as '52 06 2011'!? which is nonsense!

What are the date format options?

    Many thanks

    Hi Ivor,

NewsView and BlogPosts have a control designer from where you can control the data format.

    1. The data format depends on the current culture
    2. The date format depends on the value saved to the database - sf_GCMetaData table.

    SELECT TOP 1000 [ContentID]
      FROM [CMSDEV3].[dbo].[sf_GCMetaData]
      WHERE Application = '/Events' OR Application ='/Blogs'
      AND KeyValue='Publication_Date' OR KeyValue = 'Expiration_Date'
