    Dear all,

    We are so thrilled to announce the official launch of Sitefinity 3.0. We have been hard at work to keep our promise and deliver the most exciting version of Sitefinity on time. Featuring a rich set of built-in features, a unique Web 2.0 interface, and powerful development capabilities the new version is destined to become the perfect tool for developers, designers and content authors.

    We also have a pleasant surprise for those community members who have been looking for a light-weight but yet cutting-edge platform for constructing and managing smaller scale websites and community portals. Telerik is proud to introduce a free Community Edition of Sitefinity that offers the same flexible and extendable CMS core and advanced features suitable for both commercial and non-commercial implementations. In contrasr the Sitefinity Standard Edition will add workflow, versioning, permissions and multilingual support as part of the offering.

    Once again, we would like to thank everybody for their patience and for helping us along the way with generous and valuable feedback.

    Both versions are available for immediate download from your Client.NET account.

    Hi looks excellent.

    Congratulations, great work.

    I am downloading now.  I can only find a trial version under my client.net, is the dev version coming soon or are you changing the way the licensing worked compared to before??

    Thanks
    Sean

    Well I don't know about you guys but I can't find any downloads other than the trial version and the community version... so does that entitle me to free upgrades for life :D

    In all seriousness does anyone else have access to more than that?

    Hello,

    Once I reread my post I realized that it was somewhat misleading and I should have provided more details. Apologies for this, I will try to clarify things now.

    As you know we used to offer Single Domain, Developer and Enterprise Licenses. Now, with the 3.0 release we offer only Single Domain Licenses, see the new purchase page: www.sitefinity.com/purchase.

    However, all of you, our current customers, will NOT be affected by this licensing change and will receive an identical license for v.3.0 like the one you have for 2.x (if you have a Developer License for 2.x you will receive a Developer License for 3.x.).

    Now, going to my previous post - I wanted to say that we haven't completed the website update and not all customer accounts have been upgraded; only customers that purchased a Single Domain License for 2.x. now have a Single Domain License for v.3.0.Customers that have purchased Developer or Enterprise Licenses now see only the trial version for v.3.0. (Ben, you see the trial version in your account instead of the developer version).

    We wanted to complete the update process today, but it seems it will be completed tomorrow.

    Let me know if this clarifies the situation. Thanks again for your patience.

    All the best,
    Nadia
    the Telerik team

    P.S. We introduced the Standard Edition to distinguish the current Sitefinity edition from the limited Community Edition. You can find detail here: http://www.sitefinity.com/product/compare-editions.aspx

    Hello again,

    Quick update: those of you who have an active Sitefinity Developer License or Sitefinity Enterprise License can already download the respective licenses from the Client.NET accounts -> Downloads section. All accounts are already updated.

    We once again apologize for the delay! We hope that you will enjoy working with Sitefinity v3.0. Please let us know your comments/suggestions once you have a chance to play with the new 3.0 version.

    Hi

    I am unable to see the royalty free distribution option for sitefinity 3.0 for .net 2.0.

    We have built a site for a client using sitefinity 3.0 rc1/rc2 and are very keen to deploy it asap

    Hi Bogdana,

    I checked today on my downloads section and I found that there is the developer version available. On the 1st day of new release there was the standard version which I have installed. Should I have to uninstall standard or there is any other easy way to do this and change installed version from standard to developer edition?

    Bes regards

    Hi Vagelis,

    Take our apologies for not delivering the developer edition of Sitefinity 3.0 on time. Unfortunately, there is no other way to replace current installation (Standard Edition) instead of uninstalling it. Please, follow the steps below:
    1. Uninstall the Standard Edition of Sitefinity 3.0. Note that the projects, which are in the WebSites folder won’t be removed, i.e. you won’t lose them;
    2. Install the Developer Edition of Sitefinity 3.0;
    3. Copy the content from the bin folder which is here: telerik\Sitefinity3.0\ProjectManager\EmptyProject and then paste it in bin folder of your project: \WebSites\Your_Project;
    4. If you have more than a single project you should execute Step 3 for every project;

    I hope this information will help you. If you have any problems, please let us know.

    Sincerely yours,
    Bogdana Ivanova

    Just the Bin folder? or do we need to replace the Sitefinity folder too?

    Hello Ben,

    You should copy only the bin folder, if you're upgrading from Standard to Developer Edition. In his post Bob explained how you can upgrade from the Community Edition to the Standard Edition, which is slightly different.

    Best wishes,
