I was reading about some of the newer streaming features in IIS on Scott Hanselman's blog and it made me question how Sitefinity is making use of streaming.
While not a new post.... this explanation of smooth streaming
was making me ask the question of what is support through Sitefinity.
I see the radMedia player supports smooth streaming, assuming that your server is configured to make use of it and your content is encoded for it.
    How about Sitefinity?
I'm trying to set some standards for encoding video to be played in Sitefinity and I'd like to know I'm making the best choices from the start.
In the university environment, I could really see a benefit to offering support for off-campus viewing that is lower quality and a really high quality support as well for people that may want to display that same video on a projector in front of an audience.

    Hello Scott Rozman,

Thank you for contacting Telerik Support.

Unfortunately we are using a rather old version of the RadMediaPlayer control within Sitefinity 3.x (a version from 2008). This version does not support smooth streaming. This means that you will have to use another player control to (create control which works with the latest edition of RadMedia player) and use it for smooth streaming.
    Best wishes,
