Is there a way to block certain roles with edit access from being able to upload new controls?  Blocking this should also prevent that portion of the edit interface from being shown.

    Hi Shawn,

Currently, there is no such built-in functionality in Sitefinity.
However, thank you for your feature request, we have added it in our ToDo list.

Actually, there is a way to implement a similar functionality by modifying ~/Sitefinity/Admin/uplctrls.aspx page, which is responsible to load the ControlUploader control. For example, you could check the Roles for the current user in the page load handler and depending on the result, hide or show the ControlUploader control.

    Hope this is helpful.

    Sincerely yours,
    the Telerik team

We were able to come up with a solution that will work until a time Sitefinity is able to do this more elegantly.

Edit ~/Sitefinity/Admin/uplctrls.aspx and set the form element to visible=false.  Add "a.uplCtrl {  display: none !important; }" to  ~/Sitefinity/Admin/Themes/Default/AddControls.css

This will make that html element invisible to your users and also disables the upload functionality just in case someone ends up "stumbling" on to the upload page.
