    Hello nyalex,

We would recommend that you upgrade your project using the provided patch under the Version3.1 SP1 (

In order to apply the patch, please follow these instructions:

    1. First of all, close Visual Studio and reset Internet Information Services to unlock any locked DLLs.

    2. BACK UP the project! It is extremely important that a backup is done of both the files and the database before installing anything new. This ensures that whenever anything goes wrong, no information is lost.

    3. UNZIP the patch archive in a temporary folder! Then copy all the unzipped folders and files in the project folder. If you unzip directly in the project folder, you will have to replace all permissions as the new files do not inherit the project's permissions.

    4. Check the version of the Telerik.Cms.dll after the upgrade, it should be 3.1.1458.2.
If you have already updated your project and it uses this version of the dlls, then you can get this error in the following case: you are using Windows authentication and the page you are indexing is not public (anonymous access is set to deny). We are currently working on this problem and it will be fixed soon.

    Kind regards,
    the Telerik team
