Work more efficiently with Sitefinity’s new UI
Sitefinity 4.0 is packed with user experience (UX) improvements based on customer and partner feedback. The new interface is streamlined to remove friction and frustration from the content editing experience. Significant functionality improvements are provided by Sitefinity’s ajaxified backend and personalized navigation is presented by Sitefinity’s role-based user interface. Distraction-free dialogs streamline content creation and contextual help provides instant answers.
Speed up your content management process with the Sitefinity’s Unparalleled Performance
The Sitefinity’s administration has been optimized to handle enormous amounts of data without any impact on performance. Even with 500,000 items, the system responsiveness will not be affected thanks to the client-side binding techniques and ajaxification. Searching, paging, and sorting of different content items are all instantaneous.
If you can dream it, you can build it
Your web site data is fully accessible to developers using Sitefinity’s cutting-edge Fluent API. This API creates easy to read and maintain program code. Furthermore, Sitefinity’s API becomes self describing and allows programmers to intuitively discover solutions, without requiring extensive training or research. Sitefinity’s Fluent API empowers developers to be more productive and ensures that your website will be perfectly tailored for your unique needs.
Getting Started with your Project
Set up projects faster with the new Project Manager new
Sitefinity 4.0’s Project Manager is a desktop application that allows projects to be created, deployed and upgraded in a fully automatic way. New projects can be created in seconds on a local file system, FTP host or network share. The web site can then be launched with a single click. The Project Manager’s built-in web server eliminates the need to manually configure a local web server to test the new web site.

Apply advanced security & permissions
Sitefinity 4.0 introduces improvements such as stronger password verification policies. In addition, permissions can be set on a per user basis without requiring the user to be part of a certain role in the organization. Sitefinity also supports extremely granular security that allows unique user-level permissions to be attached to everything in the CMS from a single content item, to pages and CMS settings and configuration.

Create powerful & flexible website configurations
Sitefinity 4.0 allows all project specific characteristics (appearance, data, controls, meta-fields, providers, etc) to be modified using a web-based editor. Furthermore, multiple configurations can be created and then attached to policies (domain, users, roles, pages, etc). This allows Sitefinity to adapt in limitless ways: the toolbox can be personalized for each user or role, a new sitemap can be associated with a domain-name, the site templates can be limited to mobile-friendly templates for mobile clients, etc, etc. Using Configurations with Policies allows Sitefinity to adapt to any project requirement. In addition, all configuration settings are centralized and customizations are protected during project upgrades.

Enhanced RSS and Atom Syndication for Blogs guarantee that your latest messages immediately reach your audience. Visitors can easily subscribe to these syndicated feeds. Furthermore, it’s effortless to create specialized syndication feeds by using Sitefinity’s powerful content classifications. These specialized syndication feeds give your audience the ability to tailor their subscriptions and give you insight into the content that is most impactful.

Recover from editing mistakes and rescue content effortlessly new
All content in Sitefinity is automatically versioned. Each content version is numbered and includes information about date of last editing, status and author. Notes can also be attached to content versions to simplify the editing process and quickly identify important revisions. Furthermore, Sitefinity makes it easy to compare content versions by highlighting differences.

Organize your information through advanced content classification (taxonomy)
As data volumes in your organization increase, so does the need for classification. Taxonomies bring context to words, topic areas and search results. When combined with meta-tagging tools, text analytics and search software, enterprise taxonomies support accurate search and guided navigation that can’t be achieved with search engines alone. Simple implementations might create a set of terms without hierarchies (tags). More complex implementations might require hierarchies of terms (categories). Sitefinity 4.0 not only supports simple tags & categories, but also supports facet & network taxonomies. These advanced taxonomies allow powerful content relations to be represented in Sitefinity. To understand the importance of these taxonomies, review the following graphs:

Sitefinity 4.0 also allows you to classify different content types with the same category or tag since categorization is provider and data-base independent. Regardless of whether you would like to categorize your videos stored on Amazon S3 and your blog posts stored in your SQL database on your server, you can apply the same tags or categories thus ensuring that your taxonomy is consistent and when searching for a specific term (tag or category), you will get all results within seconds.
Effortlessly manage files with the improved File Manager
Sitefinity features a flexible web control for file management – Telerik RadFileExplorer completely mimics the familiar Windows Explorer functionality. You can easily organize the files and folders in your Sitefinity project: create, rename, delete, drag & drop, upload or download folders and files.
Manage all your digital assets from a central location new
The Sitefinity Digital Asset Management platform allows you to do bulk uploads and edits of different digital assets (images, documents, video, files, etc.). You can organize them in libraries and easily sort and filter items based on their classification, regardless of their current location. You can use various widgets to display the digital assets on the public side however you like.

Make informed decisions about site updates and content
The integrated Analytics module includes all standard Google Analytics reports including Visitors, Traffic Sources, Content, Goals and E-commerce. The module provides an overview of recent website activity directly in Sitefinity. This allows marketers to easily track visitors, traffic source and content trends on the web site. These enhanced reports allow marketers to see how CMS events (such as page updates) impact customer behavior. The Analytics module allows you to deny or allow access to different reports based on user and role permissions.

Working with Modules
Building web forms has never been easier new
Registrations, surveys, questionnaires, and applications can all be created with the flexible Sitefinity form builder. By using drag and drop widgets (text boxes, multiple choice, checkboxes, etc) you can create a new form without writing a single line of code. Once the form is published, submissions are stored and can be analyzed and shared with your team at any time.

Customize the views of the Sitefinity’s modules
All Sitefinity modules now feature View gadgets which can help you predefine the number of news articles, filter the items by a category and so on. By configuring the View gadget, you can configure the List Settings and Single Item settings. Using advanced filters, with no coding required, you can predefine which news to display, which fields to show for your news items, etc.

The System adapts to you
Personalize the Sitefinity Administration based on your needs
Every CMS allows you to customize the pages visible to your site visitors, but Sitefinity also allows you to manage the administrative backend of a Sitefinity project. You can edit the page structure and elements such as the dashboard, content, settings, and so on from the Configuration section of Sitefinity. You can personalize the Sitefinity CMS based on the roles and the responsibilities of the different CMS users -site administrators, content contributors, and everyone who is working with the CMS backend, thus simplifying the interface and reducing possibilities of error.
If you want to customize the administration, add something unique to it, remove or add functionality, you can do it at a glance with the same page editor you use to create or edit pages.
Localize the Sitefinity administration area for your CMS users
The new version of Sitefinity comes with a User Interface for localization of the CMS administration menus, labels and messages. This allows you to translate CMS messages in a user-friendly manner. All modifications are marked with a time stamp and linked to a resource version. During project upgrades, new items can be easily identified and translated.
