    Hi,

I'm wondering if you, or anyone else, has written a tool for importing existing websites into Sitefinity 3.0?

Also, on a related subject, Is there a place where people who have written UserControls or tools that work well with Sitefinity could share them?

I wrote a tool that can spider a folder and convert the contents of all the .htm or .asp or .aspx files into a single XML file, stripping out unnecessary data (like template info) and just keeping the goodies, like titles, meta tags, and body content.  It would be great to be able to just blast that into the Sitefinity database.  I don't want to reinvent the wheel if it's been done, and if it hasn't and I do it, I'd want share it with other users.

    Hello Ben,

We do have plans to write a tool for import and export html and other formats but it still uncertain when it will take place.

We will setup a place where people will be able to upload and maintain open source modules and tools right after the official release next month. For now we can place a link in this forum for download.

We will be more than happy to try your tool.

Thank you very much for your offer,
    Bob

Yeah, I think you writing an import tool is probably best.  What I have is just a spider that creates an XML. Would that help you as a starting point?  I can send you the source code, if that helps.  You can take it from there, I guess.

    Let me know

    Hello Ben Alexandra,

Thank you very much for your offer. It will be useful for us to have a look at the source code and later we can include it in the free downloads section co that other people can use it too.

Thank you for your cooperation in advance.

    Regards,
