    Hi,

After creating a new RC1 Sitefinity project using the project manager tool, I access the project in Visual Studio 2005 Pro using File -> Open -> Web Site, as suggested by the v3.0 Dev manual.

When I compile the project without any modifications, there are build errors.

Admin\Templates\News\SingleNews.ascx was missing a closing asp:label tag on line 4.

I closed the tag properly and rebuilt... the compiler made it past the first issue but now returns 25 build errors in 3 files.

Additionally, I also noticed the source code for a number of aspx pages looks like it has already been parsed by a web server? I.e. The hidden input tags such as __VIEWSTATE are already present in the project files. All of the <%@ Page /Register tags are already parsed and all of the .net server control tags are already parsed and converted to divs, etc. etc.

    One such example is Admin\Editor.aspx

The Sitefinity Project Manager also did not create any VS project or solution files as in previous versions. Is this by design??

    Kevin.

I had the same error. I simply excluded the offending .ascx and ran the project again. It's not a complete fix, but it should get you going.

    Hi,

You should change line 5 as follows:

    <asp:Image ID="Thumbnail" ImageUrl='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Thumbnail") %>' runat="server" CssClass="newspic" AlternateText='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Title") %>' />

so use single quotes instead of doubles.

    Daniel

Thanks guys for the suggestions, I'll make the small fixes to get it running. My main concern was that out of the box, the the release candidate seemed less stable the latest beta.

I'd like to start using the RC in developing new projects and simply upgrade the application when the production release is out, but this makes me a little leary...

    Hello Jesse,

It seems that we have omitted to change these two templates (NewsList.ascx, SingleNews.ascx) in the directory Admin\Templates\News. You can find the proper versions in Sitefinity3.0\TIUSite\Common\Templates\News. All you need to do is copy and replace the two files in Admin\Templates\News. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you for drawing our attention to the problem with files such as Admin\Editor.aspx. These are redundant  files from our working process that we have omitted to remove.

Yes, you are right about the Project Manager not creating a VS project or solution files. This is by design. You can open the project in the VS 2005 as a Web Site instead.

    Greetings,
