    Hi,

I had a problem a while back with deploying my website using Web Deployment projects or even the simple built-in web publishing in VS.NET.   I was told that deployment had not been tested.

Has this been resolved?  I would kind of like to deploy my site without sending over all the source code.

    Thanks,
    Craig

    Hi fregas,

Unfortunately, VS deployment doesn't set folder permissions for the application on the server. This should be done by the server administrator.  First , the ASPNET account should be granted full rights for the App_Data folder. Next,  the privileged account can be set in the web.config and used for system tasks. Sitefinity will impersonate this account for such tasks.

    Kind regards,
    Hrisi

I'll be glad to try those steps but i was specifically referring to an issue where i kept getting object reference errors a while back when deploying my site.  It works if i deploy the full source code but not if i use a compiled version using web deployment projects or web publishing.  I was told that these had not been tested w/ Sitefinity.

    Thanks,
    Craig

    Hi Craig,

We already tested two scenarios - web site publishing from VS and deployment project publishing from VS using TIUSite for this. The only problem is with folder permissions on the remote server. If you want to invesigate the IIS settings for your site on the remote server, you can use the free tool from Microsoft for Authentication and Access Control Diagnostics IIS Diagnostics Toolkit (x86).

If this doesn't help, please send us the compiled project to investigate the problem on deployment.

    Regards,
    Hrisi
