Hi, I created an index fine and modified the xml to exclude some CSS areas, however after changing the MasterPage, any changes published to every Page now result in the error:

Access to the path '[MyPath]\App_Data\Search\Index-The-Website\Index\segments' is denied

I've tried setting the Search folder to propogate Read/Write access to the ASPNET account the error identifies and also applying to individual segments folder, but to no avail. Forcing navigation back out of the Publish does leave the Page correctly modified, but its a pain to do that on every page and forget it for users!

It could be that the XML was modified on dev and copied to live site, but I don't think I copied any of the system indexing files too. If I delete the Index on the live site, it gives the same error, backtracking and refreshing shows the Index has gone, but can see the physical files are still there, so will have to remove manually. Hope that doesn't break it further.

Are you aware of any issues here? Cheers, Phil.

    Hello Phil C,

please make sure that NETWORK SERVICE account have read/write permissions for the App_Data folder. The problem you are seeing is most probably caused by the fact that NETWORK SERVICE account has insufficient permissions for the App_Data folder.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Best wishes,
    Ivan

Many thanks Ivan, it worked fine once deleted and recreated, had to rush it due to live site. Next time, will try the NETWORK SERVICE or use a file/process monitor to check which account permissions fail, I appreciate its a windows issue not sitefinity per se. Phil.
