We're currently using 3.2 SP1 and will be upgrading 3.6 SP2 in the near future.  I have a couple questions:

    1)  What type of performance gain(s) should we see in the admin site?  10% quicker?  I'm most concerned about performance of the sitemap in the pages section.  We have 3000+ pages and it takes 10+ seconds to expand each section of the sitemap when drilling down to pages.

I've posted similar questions before and have already made the recommended performance optimizations.  I'm hoping 3.6 or 4.0 will solve this.

    2) Will the upgrade break any of the custom code we have in the App_Code folder?

    Thanks!

    Hello Jason M,

We use ServerSide CallBack to load all RatTreeView items, so the expanding will be not so fast. We are considering Web Service implementation for 4.0 version of Sitefinity.

Will the upgrade break any of the custom code we have in the App_Code folder?

There should not be any problems. It is possible to get some errors in specific methods that was extended, but this can be easily fixed. I suggest that you should upgrade. if you get any errors related to your custom code, please write back to us and we will look into the matter.

    Sincerely yours,

Sitemap performance - Thanks for the background info on this.  We're super happy with Sitefinity, but this is a major sticking point with all of our Sitefinity users.  In some case users need drill down 5+ nodes and it takes ~10 seconds to load each node - this translates to over a minute of wait time to access a page.  Any performance optimizations to this would be greatly appreciated.

Custom Code in App_Code -  I haven't upgraded yet, but will let you know if I have any problems.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Jason M,

I totally agree with you, and we are already working on improving this section of the administration. For the time being, you can use the following workaround in order to quickly navigate to the desired page:

Let's say you are looking at http://domain.com/site/page1.aspx and you want to change something on it. Just type the following in the address bar:

    http://domain.com/site/page1.aspx?cmspagemode=edit

That way if you are logged, you will directly be taken the Edit page screen for this page. If you are not logged it, you will be taken to the login screen.

    Greetings,
    Georgi
