    Hi,

We have a contributor who is reporting an issue with a daily updated document. He's updating it daily by deleting and then re-uploading. He told us that a user, trying to download the latest version, got an older version of the document, when accessing it from the front-end part of the website.

But the contribuor, when downloading the document from the same link, was getting the right one.

We are in a load-balanced environment, but with only one database.

So I wanted to know if an history was kept of document versions or if there was a cache server-side, of the documents.

Or if you had an idea about what the problem could be.

And also, I suspect it might be a manipulation error from the user, but I wanted to know if there were other possibilities.

    Thank you,

    Olivier

    Hi Olivier,

Sitefinity 3.7 does not provide versioning support for items uploaded to Images and Documents module. This looks like as an caching issue.
Are there any issues with the new documents or the problem appears only when you re-upload a file?

    Regards,

    Hi Ivan,

    Thanks for your quick answer.

The issue was only with a certain user, getting an older version of the document, when trying to download it, after the contributor uploaded an updated version.

The contributor was getting the good version after trying himself.

What's weird it the fact that the document is supposed to be updated daily and the user was getting a version from some days ago.

How does the cache works for documents ?

    Thank you,

    Olivier

    Hi Olivier,

It is odd that the issue happens only for an user.  If the user has downloaded an item it is possible that it gets an old version from the browser cache. Please try to delete the browser cache and then let the user tries to download the document.

    Best wishes,
