    I have a ~\Files folder in the root of my Web site with many FLV files among others. Yet, when I edit a Generic Content control and click the Flash Manager, the dialog lists no files to choose from and all the buttons are disabled except for the Refresh button.

    Any troubleshooting steps? This is Sitefinity 3.6.

    Thanks!
    Adam

    Hi adam,

    Make sure that the FlashManager is set to use your Files folder. We are not able to reproduce similar problem with the FlashManager locally.

    Sincerely yours,

    Where do you configure the folder that Flash Manager uses?

    Thanks!

    Hello adam,

    Check whether you have mapped the external template for GenericContentDesigner.ascx. RadEditor declaration is added to this template.

    <FlashManager ViewPaths="~/Files" UploadPaths="~/Files" DeletePaths="~/Files" />

    I do not see a GenericContentDesigner.ascx file anywhere in my solution. I do have several files that contain the code line that you mentioned, but can you confirm the filename and path where this should be?

    Thanks!

    Hi adam,

    Thank you for getting back to us.

    You should download the external templates archive from your Client.Net account. More information on the topic can be found here: http://www.sitefinity.com/support/kb/sitefinity-3-x/how-to-map-a-view-to-an-external-template-in-sitefinity-3-6-or-later.aspx

    Thanks to the pointer to the article. These steps are somewhat long, can you explain more what these steps are meant to do? For example, what is an external template and why do I need it instead of using the default one? Also, what is in the download file that I need to use for this problem?

    Thanks for all the help!

    Hello adam,

    From Sitefinity 3.6 we use embedded templates. If you want to make some changes to the templates you have to map them. So, you could try to map the external template for GenericContentDesigner and see whether you are not able to see your .flv files event with the following explicit setting

    <FlashManager ViewPaths="~/Files" UploadPaths="~/Files" DeletePaths="~/Files" />

    Generally this is the default path for .flv files which is used by RadEditor's Flash manager.

    If the problem persists you can send us a sample project that illustrates the behavior you are experiencing.

    Kind regards,
    Ivan Dimitrov

    I just learned this Flash manager blank dialog problem only happens when I use IE, using Firefox everything works fine. I also learned that this works perfectly for BOTH IE and Firefox if I move my site to Sitefinity 3.7 SP2.

    If I understood correctly, I shouldn't have to do the setup steps listed earlier in the thread anyway because I am using the default path of ~\Files currently. Is that correct?

    Thanks!

    Hi adam,

    Thank you for getting back to me. It is good to know that everything is working fine at your end.

    The default path is ~/Files. The mapping was suggested, because there could be some problem with the path resolving and exposing the template will allow you to set different value of the FlashManager ViewPaths, UploadPaths and DeletePaths.
