    Hi,
    I have built my site if sitefinity and all works fine except site finity is not closing meta tags when generating html.
    For example, i get:

     <meta name="Description" content="Validium - International Provider of Organisational Support Services, EAP, Counselling">
     <meta name="Generator" content="Sitefinity 3.6.1936.2:1">

    as you can see the /> is missing at the end of the tag.

    can you help?

    thanks
    Gerry

    Hi Thomas Kelly,

    I am not able to reproduce this problem locally. All tags are closed:

    <meta name="Description" content="desc" />
    <meta name="Keywords" content="desc" />
    <meta name="Generator" content="Sitefinity 3.6.1936.2:0" />

    Can you provide us with some more information or any link form where we can reproduce the problem?

    Kind regards,
    Ivan Dimitrov

    Thanks for the quick reply,

    An example page can be found at http://www.validium.com/ValidiumWebsite2/Home.aspx

    I even removed desciption and keywords from the page definition to try and fix but the meta tag for the generator still remains.

    Regards,

    Thomas

    Hello Thomas Kelly,

    As I see it you are using GoogleAnalytics which is not properly set up on your website which could be a reason for missing closing tag.

    The following code segment

    <script type="text/javascript"
    var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
    document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
    </script>

    <script type="text/javascript"
    try
    var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-xxxxxx-x");
    pageTracker._trackPageview();
    catch(err) {}
    </script>

    should be added into the bottom of your content between the <body> tags. It seems that it is outside of the body in your website:

    </title><meta name="Description" content="Validium - International Provider of Organisational Support Services, EAP, Counselling"></meta>
        <meta name="Keywords" content="EAP, Counselling, Support, Services"></meta>
        <link href="CSS/default.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /><link rel="alternate stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" title="Large" href="css/large.css" /><link rel="alternate stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" title="Largest" href="css/largest.css" /><link href="css/print.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="print" />
        <script src="scripts/swfobject_modified.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
        <script src="scripts/styleswitch.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

        <script type="text/javascript"
            var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
            document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
    </script>
    <script type="text/javascript"
        try {
            var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-1178144-3");
            pageTracker._trackPageview();
        } catch (err) { }</script>

        <meta name="Generator" content="Sitefinity 3.6.1936.2:1"><link href="/ValidiumWebsite2/WebResource.axd?d=jF8J3IdlCNhQp2ZrZMLiKx8YniAJ7rdgw_nqAPu1atos0DjD69Gk0kRY6-0FwifO_EAkh1l4sbaaorthLE84Yl9Xl-fUutzXneZoC3SRt4UBvu7BFVkEA_WVGA6FBLFu0&amp;t=633824775535688704" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" media="screen"></link></head>
    <body>

    Can you fix this and see whether the problem persists.

    HI ,

    I totally removed the google analytics section with no effect I'm afraid.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thomas

    Fixed now

    the site was running in  virtual directory with another .net application runnign at the root so the config must have been conflicting .  moved to its own top level site and all started rendering correctly.

    Regards,

    Thomas
