I added two news items and after initially leaving the expiration empty I updated the expiration to 12/31/2099. Honestly is this the best solution for handling expiration dates? Ideally you should be able to set the default action for expiration dates that are empty. My default would be to show if null/empty, can I change this somehow?

worse after I created a page and added a newslist control the two news item headlines show up but when I click on the more >> text nothing happens. I tried in FF and IE. Isn't it supposed to take me to the news details when I click the more >> text?

    Hello Brian,

Unfortunately, the current implementation sets the null value to DateTime.MinValue and this cannot be passed around easily. So for the time being, it would be most convenient if you could set your date time explicitly or set it as default in the corresponding template.

The reason why you do not get any information when clicking the more link is probably because you did not set a SingleNews page via the SingleNewsPage property of the NewsList control. This property should contain the URL to the  page which contains the SingleNews control.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any further assistance.

Thanks that worked great. I'll try to pay better attention to the properties page next time.

Is it possible to make the entire header a link in addition to or in place of the more >> text or which will most likely come from the designer in the next day or so make it a graphic instead of text?

    Hello Brian,

You could have up to three links with the "more >>" function for a single item in the NewsList control. In other words, you can add three HyperLink controls in the ~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/News/NewsList.ascx template with one of the following IDs: newsLink, newsLink2, newsLink3. So if you'd like to have the header as a link, you should wrap it in a HyperLink control with newsLink2 id.

error: The resource cannot be found

when I click on a link it tries to go to a page

     /Bank/default/aboutus/news/newsitem/07-10-17/bank_expands_to_blah.aspx

but I get the error mentioned above. At first I thought it was because I modified the newslist control and added a hyperlink to the title tag, as you suggested. However I keep a backup project which is never touched and replaced the modified newslist.ascx file with the original and still have the problem.

Do you know what is causing this and how to fix it?

    Hi Brian,

Please open a support instance and send us your project and database to test this issue locally as we cannot reproduce the problem. Also, check once again that you have set a SingleNews page via the SingleNewsPage property of the NewsList control.

Thanks for your cooperation in advance.
