In addition to my previous post, I found another issue, where when you add a post list control to a template, rather than a page itself, the permalink, title link, and comments link all cause a 404 error on the live site. If I take the same control and add it to a page directly, rather than the template, it works fine.

To me, it's important that we be able to use blog functionality within the template, and not just on the individual page level.

    Kevin.

    Hello Yasen:

Thanks for the consideration about the CMS deny access and how it should have been treated and for the other two points I have made. However, if it is possible, could you send a sample in which the login functionality is overriden to create a different authentication cookie that stores information about the public user and thus the user will be recognized as a public user in the public part and as CMS user in the administration? Also, with regards to the error "System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    " for Line 73:         get { return this.MainMenu.SelectedTab.Text; }
, is there a workaround or should I at this point, give the user access to see the entire sitemap (which is not the ideal solution)?

    Hi again,

I posted an issue with the search results on monday, did you miss that?

The special characters (ä ö é è etc.) in the search results aren't displayed correctly, that is a bug, right? Or did I miss something?

    An answer would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mat

    Sitefinity  3.1 Community.

      1. It look like Telerim.Localization and Telerik.Localization.Data are not includer in setup. (Solved this by instaling Standard, and taking those assemblies from Standard/bin )

     2. PersonalSiteListPostTemplate.ascx  - error on  line 8:

    <asp:PlaceHolder runat="server" Visible='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Thumbnail").Length %>'

.Length is not definded.   Solved by deleting whole Visible=... attribute.

    Hi Dušan,

The Telerik.Localization and Telerik.Localization.Data assemblies are not included in the Community Edition installation because community edition does not have multilingual support. If you want to use this functionality, you would have to buy the standard edition. The replacement of the assemblies in the bin folder is not a solution since the Telerik.CMS assembly in the community edition is not compiled to work with localization and would still not make use of the copied assembly. You would get other errors when you try to use the functionality.

Here is more information about the differences between the two editions: Compare Editions

    Hello dmajkic,

As Slavo mentioned, the community edition is not configured to support Localization and there could be various errors occurring if you add it there. We could not help in such cases because the edition was never meant to work properly with Localization anyway. If this problem occurs in the Standard edition, please let us know of the exact steps you take and the occurring error message after these steps, so that we could help you in solving the issue.

    Sincerely yours,
    Sonya

    Site TabStrip

    Hi,

after a fair amount of scratching my head i discovered and issue with your Site TabStrip which prevents you from setting the node etc. and generally customising it much in the page.

    You left out

    DataSourceID="SitemapDataSource1"

    from the RadTabStrip control.

If you put that in it works great.

    Hello Seth,

Thanks for pointing this out. Somewhere on the way, among the improvements for the control, we must have introduced this issue. The main problem that comes with that is you cannot control the behavior through the properties directly affecting the SiteMapDataSource, namely ShowStartingNode, StartFromCurrentNode, StartingNodeOffset. However, you should still be able to achieve similar functionality by using the rest of the properties of SiteTabStrip. For example, there are properties for controlling the hierarchy depth.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you again for bringing our attention to this.

    Greetings,

    Hello,

A small issue on shared content. If in a saved page try afterwards to make a content shared it saves it without title. You have to go manually to modules, generic content to edit it and add the title.

I have come across a bug with the navigation. Basically if you create page as an external link that links to another page within the site, the page declared as an external link is now the page used throught the site. Here are the steps to produce this problem using the TIUSite.

    Step 1
Under the sitemap create a page with the name of AboutUs and the label of About Us.

    Step 2
Set the page as External Link

    Step 3
Use this as the path "~/aboutus/abouttiu.aspx" (This is the path to the group page About Us)

    Step 4
    Save your changes

    Step 5
Go to the live site and click on the About Us tab in the main navigation. The page that loaded is the About Us under the Sitemap page.

Another strange thing is that if you set the About Us page under Sitemap to non-navigable, the About Us on the top level will still go to the About Us under Sitemap. This seems to occur no matter where the actual page lies nor where the page declared as an external link lies within the navigation hierarchy. It seems as if the page delared as an external link page is being set as the primary page rather than the external link page pointing to the primary page.

    Hi,

I got today on Windows Vista business an error after a test vote. As I understand there is a limitation on 16 characters for IP address on database table to restrict multiple votes. This was ok with IPV4. In Vista IPV6 is enabled and length of IP is 32 chars.

Is there an issue with the CommentsList? I have tried to get the control to work on the TIU sample site and a customers site. I get multiple errors when adding to a page. Here are the following errors I am getting.

After adding the control to a page I try the following:
Select ParentIDUnable to cast object of type 'Telerik.Cms.Engine.WebControls.SelectContentDialog' to type 'Telerik.Cms.Web.UI.IWebUITypeEditor'.
Set Provider Name to News - The Resource object with key 'Comments' was not found.
Post Comment - Value cannot be null. Parameter name: item.
Last module in stack trace Telerik.Cms.Engine.Data.Providers.DefaultProvider.CreateComment

Am I missing something on this. All I added was an entry in the web.config ToolboxControls section with the following:

    <add name="CommentsList" section="Comments" type="Telerik.Cms.Engine.WebControls.CommentsList, Telerik.Cms.Engine" />

I then had to copy the CommentList.ascx file from the blogs folder (Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/Blogs) to the News folder. This was the first time I tried to use the comments control.

There seems to be a known issue with the RadInput. This issue exists when using the RadInput in a custom module as well. The border-right on all RadTextBox and RadNumericTextBoxes do not appear. This occurs when declaring a skin or not.

    Hello Richard,

Indeed, you are right about these issues. They will be fixed for the upcoming release. Thanks a lot for reporting them, your Telerik account has been updated.

As for the time being you could find the content id of a news article by dropping a SingleNews control, select ArticleID and copy the value of the field.
    About this issue:

Set Provider Name to News - The Resource object with key 'Comments' was not found.

Have you copied the CommentsList.ascx from ~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/Generic_Content folder to ~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/News as well as the CommentsList.ascx.resx file from the App_LocalResources folder?

    Vassil,
Thanks for confirming this issue and the points. I actually pulled the CommentsList.ascx from the Blogs folder rather than the Generic_Content. But I did forget to pull the CommentsList.ascx.resx file. I should have caught this one myself but with the other errors I was getting, I just didn't think it out any further.

I was able to create a comment for a news control and a generic content. I have the moderation set to true for both in the config and in the comment control itslef. I am having troubles viewing the comments submitted.

The news control is missing code for the Comments in the CommandPanel class. The container has a control that is of IButtonControl with an ID of "commentsLink" but is not beign trapped in the button_Command event handler nor being set in the CreateChildControls method.

The Generic_Content gives me the Comments link, but I keep getting the "No Comments have been posted yet" message. There are two comments in the sf_CmsComment table with the CntID equal to the only Generic Content item I have. What might I be missing in order to moderate the comments submitted?

    Hi Richard,

Unfortunately, this feature is not available in v3.1 and older versions but it you are able to use in the SP1 release. All you need to do is add a button in the ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/News/CommandPanel.ascx template with "commentsLink" id. Be sure that you have uploaded the latest build.

I'm having trouble enabling workflow on modules. Was able to successfully implement workflow for pages, but the individual modules throw a parser error message -- "Unrecognized attribute 'allowWorkflow'. Note that attribute names are case-sensitive"

    Hi Julia

When the workflow is enabled, you need to uncomment some code in Permissions template - ControlPanelPermissions.ascx. You could find the template in the following folders:

    1. for Generic Content in ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/Generic_Content/ folder.
    2. for Blogs in ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/Blogs/ folder.
    3. for News in ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/News/ folder.

The code that should be uncommented is marked as "Uncomment this block when using workflow".

    Cheers
