    I installed the Q2 2008 "futures" radcontrols and tested with my Sitefinity project.  The project builds, but when run I receive the error "Object not set to a an instance of the object" in Telerik.Web.UI.RadUploadHttpModule.IsUploadRequest(HttpApplication application) +24
       Telerik.Web.UI.RadUploadHttpModule.app_EndRequest(Object sender, EventArgs e) +59

    Has anyone been able to use the new controls successfully?

    Hi Chris,

    I have just tried Sitefinity 3.2SP2 hotfix 1616 with the newest version of the RadControls but found no problems. Please confirm you have done the following:

    1. Make a binding redirect to the new assembly. This can be done through the project's web.config file:

    <runtime>
    ..
        <assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1"
          <probing privatePath="bin;sitefinity\admin\bin" />
          <dependentAssembly>
            <assemblyIdentity
              name="Telerik.Web.UI"
              publicKeyToken="121fae78165ba3d4"
              culture="neutral" />
            <bindingRedirect
              oldVersion="2008.1.515.20"
              newVersion="2008.2.708.20" />
           </dependentAssembly>
        </assemblyBinding>
    ..
    </runtime>

    2. Delete the existing Telerik.Web.UI assembly from your project's bin directory and place the new version.
    3. Make sure that the worker process has full access to the new assembly.

    I hope this helps you to resolve the issue.

    Sincerely yours,
    Georgi

    I tried your suggestion using the 1616 sample spplication project running in  Visual studio 2005 ASP.NET  Web Server and also using IIS 5. However,  I still receive the same error.  I am able to run the site using windows 2003 and IIS6 after adding the binding redirect. Would you be able to send me a working example of the project you created that runs under IIS5 or asp.net web app server?

    I was able to successfully integrate the new radcontrols release, but I made the mistake of deleteing the old ones. now my admin panel went nuts because it's still referencing the old ones. luckily I was able to restore... but will the admin panel be updated to use the new controls by the next release?

    Hello SelArom,

    This is to confirm the release of Sitefinity - it will include the latest version of the the RadControls - RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX Q2 2008 SP1.

    They will be integrated in the admin area.
    I hope that addressed your question.

    uh oh, mostly everything works with the new controls, but the radeditor in the admin panel has a different stylesheet so my buttons (like bold, italics, justify, etc) are all out of whack! it's loading css from the webresource.axd instead of the editor.css!

    is there any way to disable this without adding !important to each element in the editor.css file?

    FYI:  These instructions worked for me, but I also had to copy over the Telerik.Charting.dll and enter in the following into the web.config to get it work:

    <runtime>
        <assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1">
          <probing privatePath="bin;sitefinity\admin\bin"/>
          <dependentAssembly>
            <assemblyIdentity
              name="Telerik.Web.UI"
              publicKeyToken="121fae78165ba3d4"
              culture="neutral" />
            <bindingRedirect
              oldVersion="2008.1.515.20"
              newVersion="2008.2.826.20" />
          </dependentAssembly>
          <dependentAssembly>
            <assemblyIdentity
              name="Telerik.Charting"
              publicKeyToken="d14f3dcc8e3e8763"
              culture="neutral" />
            <bindingRedirect
              oldVersion="2.0.1.0"
              newVersion="2.0.4.0" />
          </dependentAssembly>
        </assemblyBinding>
    </runtime>

    Thank-you!  There was one more issue that came from using the latest version of the RadControls.  I had to also update the CommandSprites.gif and the EditorCssFile.css located under this folder:

    ~/Sitefinity/Admin/Themes/Default/AjaxControlsSkins/Sitefinity/

    I found the instructions for doing this at the following link:

    http://www.telerik.com/support/kb/article/b454K-bagk-b454T-btb-b454c-btb.aspx

    That only mostly fixed the issue.  Some of the icons are still out of alignment.  I'm still working on it.  I would appreciate any additionaly insite as to what the proper css and CommandSprits.gif file I should be modifying for Sitefinity.

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hi Adam,

    We are aware of the styling issues with the updated version of the RadControls. This will be fixed for the next release. In the meantime you could use the default (embedded) RadEditor skins. Here is an example how to change the RadEditor declaration:

    <telerik:RadEditor
        runat="server"
        ID="contentEditor"
        ContentAreaCssFile="~/Sitefinity/Admin/Themes/Default/AjaxControlsSkins/Sitefinity/EditorContentArea.css"
        ToolsFile="~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/EditorToolsFile.xml"
        EnableEmbeddedSkins="True"
        NewLineBr="False"
        Width="95%"

    The code above can be found in the insert/edit templates of the corresponding module:
         \[YourProject]\Sitefinity\Admin\ControlTemplates\[ModuleName]\ControlPanelInsert.ascx
         \[YourProject]\Sitefinity\Admin\ControlTemplates\[ModuleName]\ControlPanelEdit.ascx

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes,
    Georgi

    I'm still having trouble with this upgrade to the Q2 2008 Rad Controls.  The Image Upload and File Upload features in the RadEditor don't work and the icons for them are out of alignment.  All the other icons look normal.  I'm guessing it is related to the javascript required for those features.

    With the image and file upload window... clicking on select doesn't do anything.

    I just found this thread:

    http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/support-forum-thread/b1043S-bkdhbd.aspx

    Are those issues still preventing the use of the latest version of the RadControls?
