    Hi,

I have run into problems where when a content area may be "too small" in edit mode I am no longer able to see the "Edit" and "Trashcan" when I mouse over the area.

I've been working around this so far but now I have a deal breaker.

I have a template that's designed to have two side by side polls.
I can drop a poll control into both of the content areas. When I mouse over them I get the edit / trash options.

After I set one poll though I can no longer edit the second poll. I can't even drag and drop content into the content area.

I took some pictures and have links to them below.

2 empty poll controls, both can be edited:

Left poll has been set and I can no longer access the right poll control

This is a huge problem for me right now.

have you tried switching the edit mode from "overlay" to "classic"? sometimes my content gets rendered strangely and if I switch to classic mode I'm usually able to recover.

    Hi Brett,

Please try the suggested workaround in our Troubleshooting section:
    DisabledContentPlaceHolders

Basically, in your master page, you need to close the <asp:ContentPlaceHolder> tags on the same line, without leaving spaces between them.

Do let us know if this doesn't fix the issue.

    Kind regards,
    Rebecca

Thank you both SelArom and Rebecca for your reponses.

SelArom, your suggestion worked perfectly. When I switch from Overlay to Classic mode I can edit my content items.

Rebecca, I read the post you referenced in the troubleshooting page, verified that my placeholders are all on one line and my problem still exists.

Just to make sure that I was clear my content areas work as expected in overlay mode prior to getting their content set. I can drag and drop controls into each of the placeholders. When the polls are there but before they are set I can mouse over each of the content placeholders and see the edit/trashcan elements.

It's only after I set the Poll ID of one of the poll controls that the other control gets "squashed" and no longer shows the edit/trash elements when moused over.

If you take a quick look at the images that I linked to in my original post it may help if my description isn't clear.

This is an issue that has also come up with a custom control that I uploaded to my site. Prior to the content being set the overlay works, after the content is set the content area looks smaller than it was in the unset overlay mode and the mouseover options are no longer visible.

    Thanks

    Hi Brett,

We cannot reproduce the issue locally, so we'll need some more information:
    1. Which is the exact Sitefinity version you are using?
    2. Which is your browser version and can you reproduce this behavior in other browsers?
    3. In Classic mode, can you click Edit/Trashcan in both controls after the PollID is set for one of them?
    4. Have you modified any of the Polls templates in any way?

Thanks for your cooperation in advance.

    Best wishes,
    Rebecca
