When we are in the dashboard of a particular project and then click on the Pages link the w3wp.exe service crashes spawning a few DW20.exe processes for the crash.

Server 2003 current patches, SQL 2005, and SiteFinity 3.1 SP2

I can go into other sections with out the crash, just Pages causes the crash.

This seems to have started when an admin was in and reordering some pages.

I did install 3.2 on another machine, created a new project and connected to a copy of the original projects database and I get the same problem.

    Any ideas?

Included here are copies of the events in the system and application event logs.

This isssue is related to the database.

If anyone has any ideas on how to find the problem in the database the information would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Tom,

I am posting the answer to the support thread here as well, so anyone else who is interested can take a look.

We cannot track the problem from these exceptions, but we have e clue that might help us solve the problem.
Which is the exact version you were using when you saw the error for the first time? We had a problem with reordering pages but that was fixed in 3.1 SP2. The issue was a bit complicated. If you have several page groups:

    parentPage
        |
        ----------SubPageLevel1
                       |
                       ----------------SubPageLevel2

If you drag parentPage to become a child of SubPageLevel2, then SubPageLevel2 becomes a parent of parentPage, and parentPage is already a parent of SubPageLevel1, and at the same time a child of SubPageLevel1. Can you see the cycle? It sounds a little funny, but this is stored in the database, and when trying to rebuild the Sitemap tree, the procedure enters into an endless loop. That could cause the ASP.NET process to crash. We are not sure but it might be something similar.
So we suggest you backup your database, put it in a ZIP archive and send it to us, so we could test and fix this locally. Then you can use it with 3.1SP2 for example, or version 3.2.

Now, as you sent us the database, we will try to fix it as soon as possible.

    Best wishes,
    Georgi
