Hi, just a little advice regarding migrating, I know that the pages and sitemap in Sitefinity are stored in the DB. If I change the sitemap on the dev machine, do I need to overwrite the Production DB for the changes to be effective, I would assume so. I realized after working on the Dev machine, that I wasnt seeing the results after copying the updated files to the Production machine. Thanks in advance!!!

    Hello Falcon325,

We think the only reason for the described behavior is that the database on the production is not properly updated with the latest developer database. I would suggest you investigate the instructions for Migrating Projects to the Production Web Server in the User Manual. After that, if everything is properly set, try to reset the application and check again.

Let us know how it goes.

    Sincerely yours,
    Pepi

    Hi Pepe,

I am working on sitefinity 3.6 edition.I am almost done with my development of the site using sitefinity and now i want to deploy it on the server. The user manual does not contain the section Migrating Projects to the Production Web Server so i would kindly request you to guide me through the detailed steps required to deploy my site on the server both the application and the database.

    Thanks

    Hello Jassen,

Thank you for Contacting Telerik Support.

You can take a look at the Installation Guide on how to deploy to production. By default the installation guide gets copied to your machine when you install Sitefinity (default folder C:\Program Files\telerik\Sitefinity3.7\Help). Basically what you should do is to ftp the whole webiste to the production server. Create a backup of the database and restore it to the production. Then change the connection string on the production website to point to the restored db. For your convenience I am attaching the Installation Guide to this post,

    Best wishes,
