    Hi
I've read checked through the knowledge base and forum and am trying to find info regarding the transfer of a SiteFinity site from one server to another.

A couple of posts suggest using the Administration / Tools / Export functionality but i need to check:

Does this export ALL content of the site (including DB)?
Are custom controls/modules exported? (i believe we have some, apologies i didn't create the site originally so am not absolutely sure).
How would the new user set this up on their server? Would they have to go through a 'proper' installation process, rather than just copying the code into a new folder and setting up the DB within SQLServer (and adjusting any DB connections)?
Are there any licensing issues that would need addressing (i believe the product is currently licensed to my company and we'd need to transfer this to the client)

Many thanks for any help you can provide

    Hello,

The export functionality of a 3.7 project will do the following as described:

" What will be included in the exported template?

The tool currently exports all data from pages in the Pages section as well as data from the following modules: Generic Content, News, Lists, Blogs.
    "

What I would suggest in your situation, is to transfer the contents of your website ( database, contents, custom controls etc. ) by copying the files to the new server, setting it up according to our documentation and restoring the database. Then you can edit your DNS settings so that the domain points to the location of the new server.

    Hi Victor

Many thanks for your reply. This is what I thought would have to happen (and actually what we ended up doing).

The client is having a problem with constantly being redirected to the login when they tried to edit a page in the CMS. I wanted to ensure this wasn't because of the way I'd transferred the site to them, so obviously some kind of configuration issue.

Would you have any knowledge/pointers for this?

    Many thanks

    JC

    Hi,

If the site is initially worked, can you confirm that all server bindings and permissions are correctly set on the new server. Also please check whether the webconfig contains any special server related settings, which might not be compatible to the new one.
