    I have read all of the documentation for optimizing sitefinity, including disabling healthmonitoring, disabling workflow, etc, but my site is still crashing. My host said that the admin panel is using 190MB of ram. is that normal? that seems high for one site to be using...

    they were gracious enough to grant me additional resources, and I am grateful, and my site is responding better, but in the admin it is still very sluggish. is there anything else I can do to reduce the memory footprint? I'm not using any external controls or modules, just the built in ones.

    Hi SelArom,

    It is really hard to say how much memory does the Admin panel take, because the report is for the entire application. The amount of memory is a function from your online visitors, server configuration and page content.

    I want to assure you that we are working on performance optimizations in the admin part. What you could do in the meantime is to disable the dashboard (or turn some of its features off).

    We apologize that we could not help you much, but we believe that we will be able to provide a solution soon.

    All the best,

    to disable some features do you mean disable the modules in web.config? or is there a different method for disabling them?

    thank you for following up with me.

    Hi SelArom,

    The dashboard features can be turned off either from Sitefinity interface (please see the attached screenshot for more information) or from the web.config file. Dashboard settings in the configuration file can be found under section <personalization>:

    <telerik>
        ...
        <personalization defaultProvider="Sitefinity"
            ...
        </personalization>
    </telerik>

    Hope this helps.

    Sincerely yours,
    Georgi

    In addition to disabling some of the dashboard features, I also disabled modules that are not in use (forums, polls, lists) by removing them from the web.config modules section and I've noticed that performance has increased substantially! It's still a BIT slow to startup, but I don't get any crashes anymore.

    thanks!
