    Hi,

    I've been trying to upgrade a Sitefinity project to VS2005 RC. I managed to get the project compiling and running after a bit of effort. However I struck a problem with Rad Panelbar, I get the following exception:

    This control is not working properly!
    Error message: Method not found: 'System.Web.UI.IPageHeader System.Web.UI.Page.get_Header()'.

    I used the .NET2 Beta1 version of RAD Panelbar, RAD Editor worked fine but I can't really get pass this issue. Happens every time no matter what I try.

    Can we please have an update on what's in the pipeline for SItefinity as far as ASP.NET 2.0 goes. And also I would have expected some news about version 2.0 of SItefinity.

    Appreciate any pointers.

    Thanks
    Bert

    Hi Bert,

    Sitefinity does not support .NET2.0. You can try to update the r.a.d.controls inside it with the ASP.NET2.0 versions, however this has not been tested and we cannot guarantee that this will work.

    Sitefinity will support ASP.NET2.0 by the end of the year.

    Kind regards,

    Hi again,

    Just a bit of an update. The problem I referred to is actually a known issue in the ASP.NET Beta 1 version of the Rad Panelbar and will be fixed. I also found a temporary workaround using RAD Panelbar 3.5.2.0. For more info see http://www.telerik.com/Default.aspx?PageId=2202&b311D=bHDev.

    I also got my whole Sitefinity solution working under VS2005 RC so for now it seems to be OK.

    Hi Bert,

    Can you tell me the steps you followed to convert your project to VS 2005?  I need to do the same thing, as I only own VS 2002 and VS 2005.  I can't do it in 2002, that's for sure!

    Thanks,

    Gene

    Hello Gene,

    To convert your project to VS 2005, you need to follow the convert wizard which pops up when you open a Sitefinity project. After converting the project, if you have App_Data_Old folder instead of App_Data folder be sure to rename it and you will be able to modify the project via VS 2005.

    If you still need further instructions, please do not hesitate to write back.

    Best wishes,
    Vassil Daskalov

    Thanks for the reply -- I tried that and get a bunch of errors when I try to run it in VS.  I'll wait until you release 2.6 in April, as I noted on your Roadmap page that it will support ASP.NET 2.0 natively.  Shouldn't that solve the problem?

    Forgot to say that I'm running 2.4 -- is 2.5 more "VS2005 friendly" or should I just wait until 2.6 is released?

    Hi Gene,

    Unfortunately we are completely blocked with this issue. Maybe if you give us some more detailed info we will be able to determine the problem more accurately. It would be very useful if you send us the errors you get when converting your project. Please check if you are using ASP.NET 2.0 instead of ASP.NET 1.0 or 1.1.

    Indeed, you will be able to run your project in VS2005 under ASP.NET 2.0 with the new Sitefinity 2.6 version.

    Thank you in advance and we are looking forward for your replay.

    I completely rebuilt my project and then opened in VS 2005, it worked.  Since I hadn't added any content yet, it wasn't a problem.

    Thanks!

    Gene,

    Sorry I should have replied earlier but I saw you got help anyway.

    I'm eagerly awaiting 2.6 so I can get full ASP.Net 2.0 support. The product road map said end of April last time I looked.

    Is 2.6 due out soon?

    Thanks
    Bert

    Hello telerik,

    I cannot find a 'Product Roadmap' on www.sitefinity.com. Or is it on www.telerik.com ?

    Anyway, any change that this version 2.6 will be out tomorrow? Thursday I'm going to an area in Nepal with, if I'm lucky, one analog internet connection. Not a change I can download it then... :)

    So, for the sake of the Nepali ICT, maybe you can post it tomorrow? ;)

    Thanks anyway,
    Daniel

    Hello Daniel,

    The Sitefinity Product Roadmap is located on www.sitefinity.com, under the Product section. Here is the link: http://www.sitefinity.com/Default.aspx?PageId=2707

    We think that we will be done with the release by tomorrow. In case it is not live, please open a ticket and we will send it to you.

    Hi Telerik,

    Would you mind posting an update as to when sitefinity version 2.6 is expected to be released? The product roadmaps says end of April, and it was also mentioned above in this thread that it would be released any day now.

    Thanks very much!

    Kevin.

    Hello Kevin,

    We finished testing the new version a few hours ago and it should be live later today or tomorrow, at the latest.

    Sorry for the delay.

    How do license holders upgrade to 2.6?  I only see a request for a free trial.  Will our 2.4/2.5 license keys work with 2.6?  Can you provide a link for us to download it?

    Thanks,

    Gene

    Hi Gene,

    The License keys should work with the new version.

    To download v2.6, go to the My Downloads section in your Sitefinity account, and you will find the EXE there. Note that it is for .NET2 only.

    Hi Darshan,

    Sitefinity renders Page Title and other header tags as Literal control. That is why the Title property of the Page is null. This implementation is a remnant from previous versions, where the Title property was missing. We are sorry for omitting to upgrade this functionality according to the ASP.NET framework changes.

    The Cms renders the Title tag on the basis of the page values set in the Page Manager: it looks for title property first, if it is empty, the Cms gets Page Alias or Page Name. It always renders the title attribute, without checking whether it exists in the html of the page or not.

    For example in the default.aspx.cs, instead of using:

    if (Page.Title == "test")
    {

    // insert a javascript
    }

    you can use this one:

    if (designer1.PageName == "test")
    {
        // insert a javascript
    }

    Please tell us if this solution is appropriate. We suppose you are talking about version 2.71 as you haven't filled in the necessary details above.
