I am trying unsuccessfully to create a simple link (<a> tag) that uses an image that when you click on it it will open the lightbox and display images out of a Sitefinity Image Library. Something like:
    <img src="/images/someimage.jpg"
so if you click on the image it opens lightbox populated with images from the "BunchOfImages" library. The image gallery pages all want to display the images for you click on. I am trying to make it so you just click on someimages and then the lightbox opens using the  "BunchOfImages" library. Any ideas? Any help? Thanks in advance!

    Hey Jim,

I have successfully implemented lightbox in SiteFinity using Orangoo Lab's GreyBox. It is easy to implement and all you have to do to enable it on your images is the following:

    <href="URL" title="CAPTION" rel="gb_imageset[NAME]">HTML</a>

Just replace the NAME part of the rel tag to whatever you want your image collection's name to be and viola! Lightboxed images!

    Cheers,
    anders

Thanks Andersleet! But I am trying to use the built in lightbox that is in Sitefinity. Also I don't really see a way to pull the images from a library in Sitefinity. I could implement lightbox (many different variations) by including javascript and hard-coding images. I'm trying to use the lightbox within Sitefinity and read the image list from the database. If I'm missing something here let me know.

    Hi Jim,

If I understand you correctly, all you want is to take the images from a certain library, make a list with these images, and apply the lightbox to them upon click.
To do you, will have to use the Libraries API. Once you have the Library, you can use the ContentManager with it.
I hope this will help you.

    Sincerely yours,

    Georgi,

Is there a way to copy and modify the Image Gallery control to, instead of displaying a gallery of images, display a link or button?

I would like the same functionality, i do not want to use any third part lightbox and want to utilize the SF lightbox.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello Duncan Evans,

You can map GalleryLightboxList.ascx template and set the hyperlink that displays the images as not visible

    <dd  class="sf_image"><asp:HyperLink  ID="DownloadLink" runat="server"  rel="lightbox[images]"  Visible="false"/></dd>

By doing so, you will get only the links of the items. When you click on any link the image will open with Lightbox.

    Kind regards,

If anyone is interested. I posted a control to the marketplace that allows you to pop up the lightbox of multiple image libraries without a image gallery and with custom content of your choice (link, linked image, etc..)

    http://www.sitefinity.com/marketplace/modules/controlled-lightbox.aspx

    Enjoy!
