    Hi all,

I'm evaluating Sitefinity, and have set up a site using the community group template. On the Resources page I see two lists: "Downlodas" and "Resource Links". I decide to change the format of the "Resource Links" list, and I see that the Edit mode for the relevant ListDisplay offers me a choice of list modes, namely "Expanded list", "Simple list", "Expandable list", "Anchor list" and "Page list". By default, "Simple list" is selected. However, if I select any of the other list modes (for example, "Expanded list") and click "I'm done", the "Resource Links" part of the page is replaced by an error message saying...

    Cannot find template "~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/Lists/ExpandedListTemplate.ascx".

I would be grateful if anyone could let me know what I need to do in order to use these other templates.

    Kind regards,
    Adrian

    Hi Adrian Stovold,

The Presentation Mode is looking for its template at the path returned by the error message. Generally the control uses the built in templates. It seems that you have tried to customize them from ControlsConfig file or through Advanced mode of the control designer.
To fix this problem you can remove the reference to this external template and use the default ones, or set the correct path to each presentation mode through Advanced mode of ListDisplay control, Appearance category.
There are several properties that you can set

    SimpleListTemplatePath
    ExpandedListTemplatePath
    ExpandableListTemplatePath
    PageListTemplatePath
    AnchorListTemplatePath

    Hi Ivan,

Thank you for your help. I had not customised the ControlsConfig file nor used the Advanced mode of the control designer. However, after I read your reply I looked at the Advanced tab and saw that all the TemplatePath properties (for example, ExpandedListTemplatePath) had been pre-populated (not by me!), and were pointing at non-existent files (for example, ~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/Lists/ExpandedListTemplate.ascx). I cleared the ExpandedListTemplatePath property, and the page is now showing the ExpandedListTemplate correctly.

    Kind regards,
    Adrian

    Hello Adrian Stovold,

Thank you for getting back to me.

I will check whether this problem occurs after a new installation although the control should use its embedded templates. Let us know if there is anything else that we can do for you.

    All the best,
    Ivan Dimitrov
