    is there a way to assign a default folder for the thumbnails upload folder in the news module? where does it go now? I can't find a place to set this, and I would like all uploads from that module to go to a specific folder.

    thanks!

    Hello SelArom,

    Unfortunately this feature is not implemented. When adding a thumbnail to news item, users get file selector which has the same root as File Manager. We will be doing some improvements on File Manager in the time to come and ability to specify different root folders will probably be one of them.

    I am sorry that I was not able to help you more at this point. Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

    no biggie, i will have them upload through the file manager first, then select it from the news module.

    thanks!

    Hi,

    Is it possible to change the thumbnail selector to the library view instead of the file system.

    Thanks

    Hello Kieran,

    By default in Sitefinity 3.7 SP1 the selected tab is libraries - not Files. The behavior of the dialogs can be controlled from the following files

    ~/Sitefinity/UserControls/Dialogs/ImageDialog.aspx - here is a reference to ItemSelector control from where you can change the "show" mode to Images, Documents, All

    ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/Libraries/Dialogs/ItemSelector.ascx

    From here you can control which tab is selected and which tab is visible or not.

    Sample:

    <telerik:RadTabStrip ID="tabStripItems" runat="server" MultiPageID="multiPageImages" EnableEmbeddedSkins="false" Skin="SitefinityDialogs">
        <Tabs>
            <telerik:RadTab Value="pagesTab1" PageViewID="pagesTab" runat="server" Text="Pages"></telerik:RadTab>
            <telerik:RadTab  Selected="true" Value="librariesTab" PageViewID="pageViewLibraries" runat="server" Text="<%$Resources:Libraries %>"></telerik:RadTab>
            <telerik:RadTab  Visible="false" Value="filesTab" PageViewID="pageViewFiles" runat="server" Text="<%$Resources:Files %>"></telerik:RadTab>
        </Tabs>
    </telerik:RadTabStrip>

    files tab is hidden, LibrariesTab is selected.

    All the best,

    Thanks Ivan

    Sorry forgot to say I'm using Sitefinity 3.6.  I have tried changing the file stated above but having no joy, i presume 3.6 is implemented differently

    Hello Kieran,

    The implementation in 3.6 should be the same, because we have not made any changes to the designers. Also by default the Files tab is not the selected one.

    Hi Ivan

    Thanks for the quick reply, I tried changing those files above, but still no luck. When I made those changes the selector in the image selector in the generic content changed. But the thumbnail selector is still the same. I have attached a pic of what my news thumbnail image selector looks like. It is different to the image selector in the generic content.

    Thanks
    Kieran

    Hello Kieran,

    The dialog you see was used in versions before 3.6 and the thumbnail button has the following declaration

    <asp:LinkButton ID="picker" runat="server" OnClientClick="javascript:needToConfirm=false;callAjaxFunc=false;" Text="<%$Resources:Select%>" CssClass="picker" CausesValidation="false" CommandName="Pick" CommandArgument="Thumbnail:Telerik.FileManager.UrlWebEditor, Telerik.FileManager" ...
       ....

    As you can see it uses FileManager as WebEditor. You can change the Web Editor with another one( for instance with Telerik.Libraries.WebControls.ImageSelector, Telerik.Libraries) , but there is a problem with the styling. I suggest that you should upgrade your project to the last official release or at least to Sitefinity 3.6 1936.
