    Hi all,

    I have installed Sitefinity on a development server (Windows/SQL 2003) and created a test project.

    The webserver is actually a VPS sitting inside a physical server.

    When I open the test project in Visual Studio 2008 and try to build the project I get 1 error and 101 messages.

    Error:

    Error    1    Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.    S:\Phase37\web.config    156

    Messages:

    Message    3    Could not find schema information for the element 'dataAccess'.    S:\Phase37\web.config    247    6    S:\Phase37\

    Message    5    Could not find schema information for the element 'connections'.    S:\Phase37\web.config    248    8    S:\Phase37\

    And many more.....

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Dom

    Hello Bloommedia,

    Please take a look at the following articles which describes the problem you have.

    System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission Failed Error – .NET 2.0
    System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission when Accessing Network or Intranet Projects using Visual Studio 2005

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Thanks for the quick reply. I tried adding the 2.0 config snap-in, but unfortunately I don't have it due to installing the run-time rather than the SDK. Instead I tried running the following command:

    http://jing.bloommedia.co.uk/capture/2009-09-17_1442.png

    This appears to execute, but I am still getting the following error in VS:

    Error    101    Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.    S:\Phase37\web.config    156

    I'm downloading the 2.0 SDK now and will install it shortly. Any other suggestions?

    I have now installed the 2.0 config utility and configured it as suggested:

    I've restarted VisualStudio and unfortunately still seeing this error?

    Hello,

    If we should be honest - we have never tested such scenario before. Let us try to setup one, and see if we will manage to get the web site and visual studio working side by side.

    Best wishes,

    Hello again. Did you test a VPS setup?

    We are also finding that creating master pages in VisualStudio sometimes do not appear inside Sitefinity CMS. We usually restart the server and Sitefinity picks them up. Perhaps this is related...

    Hi Bloommedia,

    We have tested it, but still cannot reproduce the problem. Perhaps you can try the following suggestions:

    1. Add the HostingPermissions explicitly to the machine.config file:
    <IPermission
       class="System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission,
                   System,
                   Version=2.0.0.0,
                   Culture=neutral
                   PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089
       version="1" Level="Medium" />

    2. Try to explicitly set full trust in your web.config file:
    <trust lever="Full" />

    Let me know if any of these helps.

    All the best,
    Georgi
