    Hello,
I have copied a site (code + database) and am going to start a new site based on that foundation.

What is the preferred way of changing the application name of the new site I am creating?

    Thanks for any help!

    Hi Glennon Karr,

Generally the application name is set to slash "/" . For the providers slash is followed by the name of the provider. If you have used any links with the old project it is possible to have them in the new one. So you should find them and replace it.

The project name can be changed through <cms defaultProvider section of your web.config file - projectName attribute.

If there are any additional questions, let us know.

    Kind regards,

    Thanks for your reply.

I changed the setting in the web.config per your recommendation and it changed the application name in the admin section - thank you!

One thing I also noticed is that within the database tables there are references to the /old/ application name.  Specifically:

    [CmsCtrlLinks].[PageApp]
    [sf_CmsPageContent].[Application]

Is it important that these are still tied to the old application name?  Or should I do an update in my database to these columns?

    Thanks.

    Hi Glennon Karr,

You could try using the following tool to replace all old links instead of working directly with the database.
    Chokov's Replace Tool
