    Hi cons,

This is not supported out of the box in 3.x editions. You can have custom classification in Sitefinity 4.0.

In Sitefinity 3.x you need to implement your own persistence classes that will serve flat taxonomy and you will need a custom module for this. Another option would be renaming the labels for tag if this will work for you.

    Thank you Ivan.

Can you give me a sample implementation of custom classification in 3.x?

    With code snippets?

    Hello cons,

We do not have a sample that shows how to build a custom classification. I am sorry. Youc an take a look at our contacts sample module that show show to create persistent classes.

You mean to say that entire module has to built to implement the custom categories? Say for example if I want custom classification in Products module, do I need to build the module from scratch, by taking the contacts module as  the model?

    Hi cons,

No you need to build custom class for your taxonomy and plug it in an existing module as a view of it.

    Dear Ivan,

From the contacts module I have understood that it is independent module which is built from scratch.

For me to have additional classification like tags/category in product module what are the things I need to do? Can you tell me step by step approach?
