I'd like to create a custom control within Sitefinity based off the generic content "Image" control.   What I'd like is to have a use select an image using the nice interface available in the basic image control and then enter some additional custom fields like name, title, company.  The control will then take that information and render a custom block of HTML that includes the image and text.

Basically what I'm trying to is to have a simple control that will generate some nice HTML markup for me so that my users don't have to write the HTML code themselves.

I'm using Sitefinity 3.6 and I know this is possible, possibly by extending the existing control.  Can someone point me to some resources on how to get started with doing this?

    Thanks!

    Hi Jay,

I suggest you should create a custom control that inherit from asp Image control ( or from our with also inherit form the asp one). Then, register the control and add it to your toolbox, create some properties and override render then add your logic there.

    Kind regards,

Thanks Ivan.... I ended up doing this a slightly different way with the help of one of your colleagues.  For anyone else who may be interested, see this forum post for some example code.
