Newbie question, how do you customize the user displayed html of a built-in module.  I've been looking around the user manual and saw that you can download the admin controls but couldn't see how to download the user facing controls.  For instance for the events module we want to add some of our own custom text in the user facing event view.  How do we find the original control so that we can make a copy and create our own version of it.

    Hello Michael Park,

You need to map the external template for EventsView control. Then you can modify the appearance of it. More information at Working with presentation modes

Reading through the links, I can't find the externaltemplates.zip file, since the client.net account mentioned in the posts is nowhere to be found.  The "Your Account" section of the website seems to have changed since the posts were originally created.

    Hi Michael Park,

Navigate to http://www.sitefinity.com/account/downloads.aspx. The section is the same.

Ok, so I was able to download the files but still a bit unclear about mapping the events view control.  All the examples in the user manual assume customizing the admin controls but no examples of the public facing control.  So these are the steps from the user manual that I had questions about so please correct me if I'm wrong and help answer questions where you can.
    1.  ~/App_Data/Configuration/ControlsConfig.xml , I created and was not sure how to find the HostType for the events control.  Should I set the layouttemplate path to ~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates for the public
    2. Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/Events is where I assume the right location to find the public facing controls from the ExternalTemplates zip file for the Events module.  Like looking at the route in admin, is there an easy way to figure out which public facing controls map to which locations and HostType?

    Hey Ivan,

Thanks for your help.  I just wanted to make one suggestion: one thing that was confusing was that the linked article talks about ContentViewDesigners for the first half and it takes a while to realize that a content view designer must be modified first and that you can't map an external template to the events control directly in the controlsconfig.  Searching through the forums I saw that another user was confused in the same way.  So for those of us new to sitefinity it might be helpful to make a quick note before giving the link explaining the context a bit more as it first just looks like an article talking about just modifying the contentviewdesigner.
