    Hello,

We’re currently considering using Sitefinity as a CMS for a healthcare client of ours. We have a question or two, though, before moving forward.

Our client wants to include in the site an extensive “Find a Doctor” search similar to the one used by Cleveland Clinic ( http://my.clevelandclinic.org/staff_directory/default.aspx). This features relies on some fairly intensive database work. They also want to be able to create new doctors pages and be able to easily communicate with that database based on their specialty, department, name, etc. Is there any way our client would be able to do this without getting in to touch the code? Would a programmer be able to develop a plugin that would work with Sitefinity?

Thank you very much for your help,

    Jeffrey Paul

    Hello Jeffrey,

Your requirement could not be achieved without a custom module and custom search provider for Sitefinity which should involve developers. You can take a look at our sample modules and backend architecture documentation.

    Hey Ivan,

Thanks for the response. Are you saying that our client would be required to work with a developer should they create new pages in the future, or would a developer be able to create some sort of add-on or plugin for Sitefinity to meet our needs (and so that the client wouldn't have to touch the code/work with a developer)?

    Thanks much,

    Jeff

    Hi Jeffrey,

For the module and public controls you will need a custom development. Then you will be able to manage the page and content only using the UI as it is done with our modules and controls.

    Hey Ivan,

Is there a standard process for installing a custom module and custom controls once it's been custom developed? I'm looking through the user manual now, but don't see that information anywhere.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

    Hello Jeffrey,

Adding custom modules is show in sample modules and backend architecture documentation. Intra-site modules, created in App_Code are automatically detected and registered, but you can do this manually in <framework><modules> node of the web.config
