We need to deploy a stand alone asp.net web applicaiton, on .net framework 3.5, to a siteFinity site. I have been twisting the web config file for my asp.net application. In the asp.net application web.config file, I removed all providers that I can find in the sitefinity site web.config file. However, I still get error:

Provider with name 'Sitefinity' has not been set

Any idea on what's I missed?

For test purpose, the asp.net web application is a simple "hello world" kind of application.

    Hello J,

You have removed one of the default providers in the web.config, but you have left a reference to it. Most of the built in providers are called "Sitefinity" and it is hard to tell you which of them causes the issue. Generally you have a config section - say <news> and there you have a default provider.
Another option is web.config inheritance which you should break.
