    Hi,

We are presently using Sitefinity 3.7 SP3 version for our web sites and we have been puzzled with a DLL issue. We have staging server where we test our web sites before pushing them to production server. The number of dll files in the bin folder for the same project on staging and production are different; I mean the number of dll files count. I am new to developing with Sitefinity, but it does not seem logical that they are more number of dll files in the production server when compared to the staging server. Does this mean that every time an end user creates content using Sitefinity back end it somehow creates new dll files on the production server which are associated with the new content. Is it normal that as time goes by and when end users start putting content into the site, the number of dll files increase on the production sever when compared to staging/ testing environment? It might be normal but, when we copy the same files from the staging server to production server the project does not seem to work as it supposed to, and we are really puzzled with the difference in the number of dll files on both staging and production.Could someone please shed some light on this issue?

Thank you for all your time.

    Hello san,

We do not generated dynamic dlls in the bin folder. I suggest that you should compare the dlls that are different. Then update the post, so I could see if they are Sitefinity specific or not.

    Hello Ivan,

Thank you for the reply. I am attaching a screen shot of the DLL files that are present on the production server but not testing. They are basically the App_Web dll files.

    Please advice.

    Thank you,

    Hi san,

These are temporarily files. They are generated, because you have precompiled the application.  The compiler generates special filenames to avoid naming collisions. Each folder that contains aspx, or ascx files will compile into a dll prefixed with App_Web.
