    Hey Telerik,

We have been using a custom calendar control, in which we build the event details link dynamically. We just recently ran into an issue where event details are showing the wrong data. This could be caused by recurring events, but I am not sure.

    Here are the 2 urls:

    WRONG

    http://hoac-bsa.org/eventdetails/09-04-01/OA_LEC_Meeting.aspx?Events=EventItem

    RIGHT

    http://hoac-bsa.org/EventDetails/09-04-01/OA_LEC_Meeting-1424837531.aspx?Events=EventItem

What is the -1424837531 after the event title? This seems to be the key to getting the event details to work. Also, could you provide the format for the event details link?

    We have:  SiteUrl + "/EventDetails/" + String.Format("{0:yy-MM-dd}", PublicationDate) + "EventTitle.aspx?Events=EventItem"

Is that url format correct? Or are we missing some variables?

I have read the API guide and know all about the event detail link on the aspx page. Those will not work in this instance, so please provide feedback on this issue specifically.

    Thanks,
    Cody

    Hello Cody,

This number (1424837531) is added by Sitefinity to ensure the uniqueness of the URLs. Seems you already have an item generated with the same URL.
However the scope of this check is not only the item provider, it checks all items URLs in all generic content based providers. So, the item with the same path could exists in any of the generic content providers.
We know that this is not a good solution and hope to find a better one in the future.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

    Kind regards,
    Vlad

    Thanks for the reply.

That makes sense, but how do I add this number dynamically? Does Sitefinity use a random number? Is this number stored with the Content?

We are creating dynamic links, so we will need a way to insert this number to our urls.

    Thanks,
    Cody

    Hi mcpdinkansas,

The number is a random one. It is always fixed in length, and it is saved to the content.Url property, when the content item is created.
What you can do, is to define a new metafield, and assign it a value when the item is being created. Then, you can change the UrlRewriteFormat in the web.config file, to include this metafield where you need it.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Georgi
