    Hi,

I have inherited a site developed in Sitefinity and am experiencing huge issues with the forums module, I either receive a '503 service unavailable error' (timing out issue) or a post is submitted 4 times.

As far as I know or can determine this module is pretty much self configurable.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

Could you check the error log of Sitefinity to see if it contains any relevant information - App_Data/sitefinity.log.
If you are running behind any proxy the submit could be performed 4 times. There is no such bug in the module. Service unavailable is a server side error and possible reason could be if you have made any modifications of the module/views that could cause an endless loop which kills the server.

    All the best,

    hi,

I have looked in the error logs and there isn't anything related to that particular event.

The original developer had overridden the forum object but I have changed it back so that the forum is used as it comes with Sitefinity.

    I'm not behind a proxy.

I case the only thing to do is set-up another server and see if the problem persists.

    Hello Mark,

Ok, let me know the result. It is possible that the server goes down due to some limits. Try putting only forums control on a single page- without any other controls and scripts on this page. Try using SingleForum control to see whether the number of forums/threads/posts has something to do with the issue you have.

There are only a few posts and I have used single controls per form.

I think the server is being bombarded with requests somehow.

I will test it on another server over the next couple of hours, I will get back to you shortly.
