    Hi,
I am trying to edit a GenericContent module. It is the Introductory Content and is shared. When I make my changes and click "I'm Done", I get a dark empty page that says "Invalid content ID specified" ?
I am using the Community summer template.
    thanks

    Hi,
Well, after spending some time writing an about page, and not copying it to word, all was lost because when I tried to save it, I got "Invalid content ID specified".
Iearned that when I first start a project and use an existing out of the box template, to make sure that when I call up something to modify, that I put a little something in it and try to save it FIRST to make sure there is no problem with saving.
The next thing I learned was a work around. In my about page, I created another generic content control. I copied the text from the original generic content page and pasted it into the new one. I changed the first line in the new one and made sure the save worked for it. It did, so I deleted the old generic control.
Even though this fix worked for me for one page, I would still like to know why this error occurs because it may indicate something I did wrong during installation? Or, something that IS wrong with my current environment?
       thanks for your time

    Hi IQworks,

Most probably the content ir part of the content that was  displayed by  the control had been deleted and then the Generic Content returned "Invalid ID"

     Hi Ivan,
Does mean that a control that was deleted left content out there?  I didnt quite follow you.

    Hi IQworks,

The control was not deleted. The content had been deleted before you try to manage the control. This is the only logical explanation to your problem.

This is happening to me when I export my site as a template then create a site from it.  If I try and edit the generic content control created by the template I get the same error about invalid content id.

    Hello Trang,

Then the content does not exist in your module. Could you query the GeneriContent module by passing the ID of the problematic content item using the QueryString that is generated when you preview an item from the backend module

    /sitefinity/admin/Modules.aspx?route=GenericControlPanel.ContentItemsView.ContentItemPreview`1&Param=29ad109b-145f-4e84-a6e1-49e0e2ade08e&ParentId=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000

    Kind regards,
