I tried to add a new control that included asp:Login control.  This is desired to allow users to login to the site to gain access to secure pages, but not for content management.

However, when the user tries to login they get the below error:

Invalid Page request! The CMS entry point should never be called directly.

I can get it to work if I actually create a seperate page (aspx) vs a control (ascx).  But, we would prefer being able to put it within th e site context.

Is it possible to get this working?

    Hello Darchele,

The problem most probably is caused by the Login control destination URL. If a destination URL is not set, the control tries to redirect to the cmsentrypoint and this causes the error.

To fix this, you have to set the DestinationPageUrl property in the Behavior section of your login control.

Please note that there is a tiny bug when setting it using the "select" button: the change in the property value won't be saved if you don't manually type the URL  (you'll see it if you choose it from the site map, but when you click  "Save changes" it won't be saved). You have to type the URL manually and the changes will be saved.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

I'll give that a try, but I can't get to it in the behavior section.  I'll have to update the control and them re-import it.  However, I can't find a way to delete the control now that it has been added.

How do I delete controls that I've added?

I was able to just replace the control after setting the DestinationPageURL, however it would be nice to know how to delete the control.  Tried just deleting the files, but the reference in the controls list was still there.

    Let me know.

    Thanks,

    Darchele

    Hello Darchele,

I assume you want to remove the control from the toolbox. This toolbox is generated from the controls defined in web.config. There is a toolboxControls section in Telerik => cms, just remove the controls you don't need.

Is there no way to remove a control from the toolbox via the interface?  It was added vai the interface, so it seems logical to remove it that way.

Updating the web.config is an easy solution for me, as a developer, but for an end user it might be overwhelming.

If it's not possible now, I think it would be a nice feature enhacement in the future.

    Let me know.

    Hi Darchele,

Currently, there isn't a way to remove toolbox controls via the interface but we have already discussed this addition for one of the upcoming releases.
    Thank you for your involvement.

Has the issue with trying to set properties using the "Select" button when editing the ASP Login control been fixed?

It was noted that you had to manually set the urls for the pages in order for the property to be saved. I am running 3.1 SP2 and this is still a problem.

Is there a patch for this in 3.2 or is this just the way it is?

    Hello Guys,

I have resolved this issue for unable to login with the other users other than administrator.
     error
    Requested URL:  sitefinity/cmsentrypoint.aspx

    Resolution :

    1. Go to Web.config file of the application.
    2. Under the <security defaultProvider="DefaultSecurityProvider" cmsProvidersName="Sitefinity"
You can check that only administrators have permission="Unrestricted".
    3. There you need to add Unrestricted access for the user who need to acces those pages.
    4. If this does'nt resolve the issue, please try the following :
    5. Under the <fileManager defaultProvider="Sitefinity">
You can check that only administrators have allowed impersonation.
    6. There you need to add <allow roles="Users"></allow>    where Users are those users whom we want to get access to the custom page.

    Thanks
    Gautam Bet

This ticket is over a year old.  The newest version of Sitefinity includes a login control, so that we don't have to create our own, and it doesn't have any problems.

Is this response really for this ticket?

    Hi,

I'm still not able to login using the login control placed on sitefinity page. Here is what I tried. I copied the login user control from sitefinity/usercontrols/login folder to my folder and updated the layout as per my requirement. Modified the web.config to point to the new location. Then I created a page in sitefinity and added this login control to the page.
I set the Destination page url and Password recovery url properties. When I tried to login, it is validationg the credentials I entered, but its not redirecting to my destination page. Also, its not even updating the login status control that I put on the page.

Please let me know where I'm doing wrong.

    Thanks & regards
    Krishna

    Hi Gopal Vemulapalli,

Make sure that the page is not cached and Destination page url is set. There is a problem related to the selector of DestinationPageUrl property, so you need to type the value manually.

    Sincerely yours,
