    I'm trying to integrate single sign-on with Saleforce, and their approach for self service portals requires me to manage the salesforce user password from within Sitefinity.

    How would I set up a PasswordChanged event delegate so that if a user that was logged in to Sitefinity changed their password, I could run some code to update the Salesforce password?

    Thanks in advance, as usual!

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

    Unfortunately there is no PasswordChanged event in the base membership provider. I will try to figure out something during the weekend, and if I succeed, I will come back to you next week.
    Best wishes,

    Hello Mike,

    I wasn't able to come with a solution for this so far. I will keep trying though.
    Perhaps someone from the community could think of something?

    Sincerely yours,

    I appreciate the effort!

    About the only thing I can come up with is a custom Change Password / Recover Password control that updates the Salesforce password at the same time.  I'm not real sure about the recover password part, though.  With the FBA part of the Community Kit for SharePoint, I found it was hard to get to the password that was reset, so we just reset it again to a known value.

    I'll be working on this part over the weekend, so I guess I'll find out.  If I have success, I'll post back here in case anyone else needs to do it.  Salesforce integration has been a big part of a couple of projects I've done.

    Thanks again,
    Mike

    Hey, I think I have something.  It occurred to me there had to be a way to validate passwords when they're changed:

      Membership.ValidatingPassword +=
        new MembershipValidatePasswordEventHandler(SyncSalesforcePassword);

    I'll give this a try tonight, and maybe I'll get lucky.  ;^)
