Setup a News View in a sidebar to show top news. Show titles and summary just fine including icon. Settings on How to display the full item information page? set to
Use a page especially prepared to hold the full info  and set that to the ~News.aspx. That works and links.

However, the original sidebar listing changes to aslo display the full information too instead of just passing the link to the full page view using the news.aspx.

And no that's not what I wanted as an undocumented feature.

Sure, we are running a test site in preparation of going live. You can see that at ridenow-community.com. On the home page you will see on the right side a sidebar where we have the news listings. If you click on one of the news summaries we expect you to be taken to then full news article for viewing. It does do that on the news.aspx page BUT it also seems to expand the sidebar and display the full news article as well.

From the documentation I would expect the sidebar link to only link out to a new page for the full article which it seems to do but then not do anything else. Certainly not try to then expand the article where the original link is.

try making sure that the newsview on the right column has its BehaviorMode set to Master and DisplayMode set to ItemList in the "Advanced" tab of the editor.

I did that just now and it still displays the full article in the sidebar that is set to master and in the news.aspx page set to detail.

    Hello Ron,

sorry for not getting you the first time. This is a known issue of all ContentView based controls (including NewsView) in our latest release. The issue has already been fixed and it's pending the release of our next version which should be out by the end of this month or in the first days of October.

If the issue is critical for you, we can prepare a custom control for you next week which would fix this issue.

    Sincerely yours,
    Ivan

    Hi Ron,

Unfortunately we didn't manage to prepare the patched control. The good news though is that our next release is going live next week. You should have no problems after upgrading to it.

Once again, sorry for the inconvenience caused.

    Greetings,
    Georgi

Thanks for the 3.5 update! It solved the issue I've been getting with summaries of news items not being displayed and it displaying the FULL article instead, no matter what I do. All solved now :D THANKS GUYS!!! Sitefinity ROCKS! All you need now is an official e-commerce module ;)
