I am having an odd issue with the News date.  I have set the date format to July 2, 2008 and it sets just fine.  I save my project and move on.  Half the time the date is correct when I come back, but sometimes it resets itself to 7/2/2008 12:00:00 AM.  I am the only one working on my project and I am having this issue in another one of my projects also.  I am using 1616.  Is there a way that I can just hard code my date format?

    Hello James,

Do you want to set the date format of the raddatepicker controls in the News module administration? If it is so, then you should open ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/News/ControlPanelInsert.ascx and ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/News/ControlPanelEdit.ascx templates, find the raddatepicker declarations and specify the required format like this:

    ...
    <telerik:raddatepicker ID="Publication_Date" runat="server" DateInput-DateFormat="dd MMM yyyy"></telerik:raddatepicker>
    ...

Please describe in details if there is some misunderstanding.

    All the best,
    Pepi

This problem is with the News View control for the public side of the site.  When I go to step 3 and set the Date Format (set label and format) and set the date format to 7/3/2008 and hit save and return back to my page the Date Format is set correctly (7/3/2008), but if I come back to my page 30 minutes later the date is set back to 7/3/2008 - 12:00:00 AM.

I am also having this problem on another project that I am working on with the community edition, except that one does not retain all of the other changes that I made in step 3.  For example, I set it not to show the summary and content and then I save my work and everything looks fine for about 15-30 minutes and then it starts showing the wrong date format and the it shows the summary and content.

Please advise.  This is driving me crazy.

the KB article helps, but, just because i am picky about variable names... is it safe to rename dummyContrnt to dummyContent ? I can't see why it would be a problem, and i have changed mine, but i want to be sure that you/sitefinity is not using this name somewhere in code and changing it will break something.

    thanks,
    Mike

    Hello Mike,

You are right, it is not a problem to use "dummyContent" instead of "dummyContrnt". It is just a spelling mistake in the code and we will fix it.

    Kind regards,
