We would like to be able to add security trimming to the editor features, so for example only certain roles would be allowed to add a Flash movie.  Is this possible?  Is there an article or posting somewhere that discusses that?  I haven't been able to find it.

    Hello Robert,

Unfortunately, currently we do not have such functionality in Sitefinity.
We will consider this feature for the future releases.

On this same note it seems that it would be possible to create a new usercontrol as Vlad showed here:

    http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/support-forum-thread/b1043S-hmchg.aspx

That checks for Role during the OnLoad event and then uses a different tools file depending on the Role. Then when building the site, use that RoleBasedGenericContent instead of the GenericContent. Would that work?

However, Would it be possible to do something similar for the Blogs and News modules?

    Sincerely,

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

Yes, we don't see any problems with wrapping the GenericControl in RoleBasedGenericContent user control as described in http://www.sitefinity.com/support/forums/support-forum-thread/b1043S-hmchg.aspx and implement your custom logic in Page_Load event handler.

Actually, the GenericContent control is a common control for editing GenericContent. Since News and Blogs are based on GenericContent but with different providers, you could use the same control for them, too. You just need to set the ProviderName property of the GenericContent control.

    Hope this is helpful.
