    Hello Neha,

Thank you for contacting Telerik Support.

Please, find attached the Sitefinty 3.2 User Manual. In there пlease, take a look at the sections:
Users and Roles, and Permissions (pages 227-246) to see how to configure which users to have access to the CMS side of your website and how to configure permissions for your Forums module. Furthermore please take at the Working with Modules section, and particularly Forums (pages 166-172) on how to configure your Forums Module, both for the administrative and public end of your website.

I hope that the information in the User Manual will help you. If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact us.

    Regards,
    Rado

    Hello Rado,

    Thank you for replying.

Actually I create User and  Role . And given role to particular user also.

How to and where to use created role.

But on public site according your user manual we can set only three forum status

    1. Visible 2. Hidden and 3. Locked.

In that three option I didn’t get my criteria like in

1.Visible it display all link like post reply, Edit,Delete thread etc.

    2.  Hidden nothing will display on web page

    3. Lock option disable all link like Post Reply, Edit and Delete

And I want User can Reply to post but not edit or delete of that thread.

same like telerik support forum. I want to my website using sitefinity. How is it possible.

    May you will understand.

    Hi Neha,

    Please follow the steps bellow:

    1) In the admin side of your site go to Modulesgo to your Forums module, and on the left you will see a Permissions link.
    2) Click on the link (see attached image).
    3) Select the users role you want to edit (in my example I have created a role called forumusers). From the check boxes select only View, and Create. This way users will be only able to view forums.
    4) Click save changes.

This will allow users form the selected role only to view forum threads, and create new or post replies.

I hope that I have understood you correctly and that this is the functionality you want to achieve.  If you have more questions, please feel free to contact us.

    Best wishes,
    Rado

    Hi Rado
    Sorry for long reply                     -
    Thanks for very uesful reply
Now we have created uesers and Roles
For everyone we have given permission only to view - so it is working correctly
but If i want some one to reply to my thread - how can i do that
I mean to say - i want to give option for users to register and once register - either they and add new thread or they can reply to existing thread - do we have any API or inbuilt functionality by using we can do this

Also i need to change default look and feel - what i need is
    1 list all category
2 click on any category - list all forums to that category with all threads
3 register user can only reply or add new thread also i need to change visual look and fil for add and Reply

Wating for nice and quick reply as previous
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Neha,

I am happy that my response helped you.

In order registered users to post reply and start new threads you need to give them Create permission. I believe i mentioned this in my previous post. For example you can set the permissions for Everyone (this defines all registered users except the administrators) to allow View and Create. This should do what you need to achieve.

The way that you want your forums to behave - i.e. to list first categories, after clicking categories to list all forums, etc. is not supported by Sitefinity. However there is away of achieving it, and it would to write your own forums control in which to define the way that forums should behave.

Otherwise it would be very easy to change the appearance of your forums (to modify their templates). To do this open your web-site in Visual Studio go to ~/Sitefinity/ControlTemplates/Forums/ the .ascx files that you will see there are the templates for the forums. Pick the file you want to edit (for example EditPost.ascx) and edit it the template, define your custom css, etc.

    Kind regards,
    Rado
