    I'm new to ASP.Net programming and need some assistance in customizing the RadMenu control.

    My website uses a horizontal RadMenu control for its navigation menu. When a visitor selects a menu item, that item should remain highlighted. Unfortunately, I've discovered that RadMenu does not offer State Persistence (unlike the RadPanelbar).  I would use the RadPanelbar, but it only allows vertical display of menu items.

    Is there an example of a customized RadMenu control with State Persistence enabled?  Or is there an example of a customized RadPanelbar with horizontal item display?

    I appreciate any feedback / suggestions / code examples.

    Thank you!

    Johnny

    Hi Johnny,

    you can use the built-in implementation of RadMenu in Sitefinity, which is called SiteMenu. You can find it in the toolbox under Navigation section. When you edit this control, under appearance tab you will find SelectedItemCssClass property. By default, this property is set to selectedItem. Then in your css files (in App_Themes folder under the appropriate theme) you can add the style for the selectedItem class, perhaps something like this:
    .selectedItem { font-weight:boldfont-style:italic; }

    Sitefinity will automatically apply this style for the menu item which has the same url as the current url.

    I hope you will find this information helpful. Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

    Greetings,
