How do we update the MasterPage Templates when we make changes to the original MasterPage without having to re-upload them?  Do so creates a copy of the original Template/File and appends a copy number to the name (i.e. DefaultMaster(1), DefaultMaster(2), etc.).  This will cause confusion to the users.  Also, when we do re-upload the Master the orignal/previous version/copy(ies) no longer contain the editable Content areas.  Only the current version/copy is editable.

    Hi Jason,

You can work on MasterPages directly in App_Master folder (that's where the Masterpages are being uploaded when you create a template for the first time). Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Ivan

This is precisely where the MasterPages are and when we modified the content it did not appear in the Template.  That's why we had to update the Template (or so we thought).  Any ideas as to why this new content would not have appeared in the Template?

    Hi Jason,

As a matter of principle, when you make changes to the physical file of master page, these changes should automatically reflect to the template, associated with this master page. But we are really not sure what you mean and what you want to achieve. So we will indeed appreciate if you could provide detailed explanations of the steps you undertook. Also, could you send us screenshots for each step?

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

    Sincerely yours,
    Pepi

We are experiencing this same issue. We are using Expressions Web to update master pages and those changes are not, I don't understand WHY, but they are not picked up.

    Hi Brian,

Please, try to restart the application after making some updates in a given .master page. As I have already mentioned in the previous post, when you make changes to the physical file of a master page, they should automatically be refected in the corresponding template. You could also try using Visual Studio for updating your master pages instead of Expressions Web.

    Hi Sam,

You could try restarting the application, since this content could be cached by the browser, so you see actually old data.
