    Hello,

I'm evaluating Sitefinity v3.2 Beta right now.

I want to use the Download List control, which requires a Library. When I create a Library, I can only upload new files. But I need to add files that are already on the server (in a protected folder, so only authorized users can download them).
Is there a way to create a library from files in a certain directory?

    Hi Daniel,

We are sorry but we currently do not provide the functionality you need. As a work-around I may suggest you zip up the files from that protected folder and add them to a new library which should not be that much of a hassle if it is only 1 directory of files. Then you will be able to use the Download List control for displaying the items from that particular library.

Please excuse us for the inconvenience.

    Kind regards,

Thank you for the quick reply,

but the workaround you suggest would remove the protection from the files, wouldn't it? If I upload them, it stores the files in the database, so they're not protected by IIS authorization, right?

If you haven't done already, please add this feature to your suggestion database. For now, I will create the download table manually, without the Download List control.

    Hi Daniel,

We will have to discuss whether to include this feature in our project plans because on the one hand it sounds pretty interesting and exciting feature and, on the other hand, it's not so common web scenario.

Thanks for taking the time to give feedback on our product!

    Best wishes,
