    Forgive me if this is an issue addressed several times previously, but I am scouring the forums and the site, and am unable to implement a solution.

    I would like my Generic Content and Lists modules to have Workflow like Pages have ie. Submit for Approval, Approve, Publish, Decline. I modified the web.config, setting allowWorkflow="True" as pasted below but I continue to only see the security options view, create, modify, delete, and change permissions. What am I missing?

    <cmsEngine defaultProvider="Generic_Content">

    <providers>

    <clear/>

    <add name="Generic_Content"

    visible="True"

    defaultMetaField="Name"

    securityProviderName=""

    allowLocalization="False"

    allowVersioning="True"

    allowWorkflow="True"

    allowComments="false"

    commentsModeration="true"

    versioningProviderName=""

    connectionStringName="GenericContentConnection"

    type="Telerik.Cms.Engine.Data.Providers.DefaultProvider, Telerik.Cms.Engine.Data"/>

    Hello Joseph,

    The Approve and Publish permissions are just disabled by default, as they only make sense when content workflow is enabled.

    After setting the allowWorkflow attribute to true for Generic Content in the application web.config cmsEngine>providers section, you need to do open the Sitefinity\Admin\ControlTemplates\Generic_Content\ControlPanelPermissions.ascx file and uncomment the code marked as "Uncomment this block when using workflow".

    Please note though that you cannot do the same for Lists, as the module is not based on Generic Content and therefore does not support workflow.

    Let us know if you have any other questions.

    All the best,

    Thanks for the quick response like always.

    A couple other quick questions about workflow.

    First, I see that comments are available to generic content items, but that appears to be in place for blog entries. Is there currently any way to comment workflow submissions, so that for example an updater who has their change rejected could be provided some sort of explanation and direction? If this isn't in place is it in any future plans?

    Second, I saw on another post that automatic e-mail with workflow was on the roadmap for 3.2. In Ivan's blog he mentions the notification service, but he doesn't metion if it will be implemented with the approval workflow. Will the notification services in 3.2 be integrated with workflow?

    Hello Joseph,

    In the upcoming release, the Notifications service will support sending comments/emails with workflow.

    I've been using 3.2sp2 up until now.

    Is workflow control for list content a possibility in 3.5?
    If not, what is the roadmap plan for workflow control for module content?

    Hello Andy,

    In Sitefinity 3.5, the workflow is still not supported for the Lists module. We are planning to migrate all modules to Generic content, and then they will inherit the workflow functionality. The Lists module will have this functionality in Sitefinity 4.0, which should be out in the end of April.
