I want to display different web contend based on the location of the web request. I see location characteristics dropdownlist displays a list of city names, state names, etc. My question is what I need to do to differentiate cities that have the same name but of different country?  Eg, London, Ontario, Canada vs London, England. In the drop down list there is only one entry, London, and there is no country, province or state name that comes after.

    Hello David,

Sitefinity's default location criteria is in the form of an input field, not a dropdown. The values you see generated are just an autocomplete - you are free to type in London, Ontario, Canada if you want to - there is nothing that requires you to pick from the dropdown.

Additionally you can find out more about personalization here and about creating custom criteria here.

I have added Location Personalization. It works in preview in sitefinity, but not on the website.

    What should I do  ?

    Hello David,

Can you please elaborate a bit more on the conditions under which you are testing the Personalization module? A common error is if you are entering your public IP address inside a private network. The correct IP you need to enter can be found in your IP config. Please see this image for further reference.

    Hello Ivan,

I am curious about how this location based personalization works? Does is consider users ip address for this purpose or something else.

    Regards,

    Chaitanya Gadkari.

    Hello Chaitanya,

Sitefinity determines the location of the visitors by their IP address. You can refer to this article for more details about it: http://docs.sitefinity.com/segment-your-audience
